Chris Craigmile is a Certified Safe Patient Handling Professional specializing in acute and long-term healthcare settings. For over 15 years, he has developed, implemented, and supported Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) programs throughout Upstate New York and across the country.

Chris is a highly sought-after consultant, known for conducting comprehensive SPHM risk assessments that address both clinical practices and environmental factors impacting the safe movement of patients. He currently serves on multiple SPHM committees, including architectural and educational program committees.

He is an active member of the Association of Safe Patient Handling Professionals, Chair of the Executive Committee for SPHM Certification, a member of the Certification Exam Committee, and President and Co-Founder of the Academy of Safe Patient Handling Excellence. Chris has also developed the Craigmile Cost Avoidance Calculator (CCAC) to measure the impact of implementation of SPHM programing.

Chris is the co-founder and organizer of the annual New York State SPHM Summit, held in Utica, NY, which draws over 150 SPHM professionals from across the nation.

Dr. Asha Roy is a nationally recognized leader in workforce safety and healthcare quality. With a distinguished background in occupational therapy, healthcare administration, and organizational leadership, Dr. Roy brings more than a decade of expertise in injury prevention, safe patient mobility, and system-level change across complex healthcare environments.

As the Assistant Vice President of Workforce Safety for New York’s largest healthcare system, Dr. Roy spearheaded enterprise-wide initiatives that significantly reduced caregiver injuries and fostered a culture of safety and accountability. Her career has centered on evidence-based practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of programs that elevate both patient outcomes and caregiver well-being.

Dr. Roy holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, a Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) in Administration and Practice Management, an MBA in Strategic Healthcare Management, and a Master of Applied Science in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality from Johns Hopkins University. She is also a certified ergonomic assessment specialist and a passionate educator, mentoring clinicians and healthcare leaders in safe patient handling best practices.

At ASPHE, Dr. Roy is dedicated to setting the national standard for excellence in safe patient handling. Through validation, recognition, and education, she empowers organizations to prioritize safety, reduce injury risk, and build resilient healthcare systems.

Kent W. Wilson - Bio

Kent Wilson has been involved with safety and health promotion for over 30 years. He has performed ergonomic and safety evaluations for over a hundred healthcare facilities around the world and assisted them with the writing and implementation of their Safe Patient Handling policies and programs. He is a Certified Industrial Ergonomist (CIE) and a Certified Safe Patient Handling Professional (CSPHP). Mr. Wilson takes an active role in the development of regulatory standards and has been a member of several American National Standards Institute (ANSI) committees. He has testified before the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) in ergonomics for the development of national standards and helped write the position statement for the American Industrial Hygiene Association on patient handling to Congress. He co-authored the whitepaper for the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Association of Safe Patient Handling Professionals (ASPHP) titled, “Advancing the Science and Technology of Progressive Mobility”.

Mr. Wilson is a past Chair of the Ergonomics Standing Committee for the National Safety Council and a founding member and Past President of the Association of Safe Patient Handling Professionals. Mr. Wilson is also a frequent invited speaker for national conferences on Patient Handling management and the Bariatric patient. He is the recipient of the 2019 Safe Patient Handling Advocacy Award from the ASPHP and participates on multiple committees for this association related to certification.
